The seminar is addressed to choir conductors, instructors who conduct choirs as well as students attending music studies and students attending Music Schools- Conservatories who get involved with choir(conducting).
The Seminar will be led by the internationally renowned conductors Ragnar Rasmussen and Urša Lah. A lot of time and special attention will be given to practical work with a demonstrative choir; the demonstrative ensemble will be the international Utopia & Reality Chamber Choir.

Utopia & Reality Chamber Choir is an international choir established in 2011 by two conductors, Ragnar Rasmussen from Norway and Urša Lah from Slovenia. They have joined talented young singers from different countries in performing contemporary choral music. The aim of the project is to perform on a high artistic level, to encourage singers to think about the role of art in the society today, to explore different ways of affecting audiences and to develop young singers through establishing a strong role of the individual in the group. Encouraged by their excellent singing companions, every young singer rapidly increases their singing capacities, grows in the role of performer and also develops a sense of tolerance towards different nations through learning about their singing traditions.
The choir is aptly named "Utopia & Reality" - two, at first glance incredibly distant ideas become interdependent through creative activity and through the human tendency to change, things that seemed unimaginable become true.
Is it utopia or is it reality to join talented young singers from different singing traditions and make them sing homogenously advanced contemporary music on a high artistic level in just a few days? Is it utopia or is it reality to expect from young people in today`s world to pay for their journey in order to be part of a project where they will rehearse strenuously to perform advanced contemporary music? Is it utopia or can it perhaps become reality that these young ambassadors of their countries will teach their politicians to invest into culture in order to make our World better?
The choir has regular gatherings; these are usually connected with festivals where singers perform after intensive rehearsing period. Beside the common rehearsals both of the conductors rehearse with the individuals by the help of modern technology, using Skype/FaceTime. The project has turned out as a success and Utopia & Reality has (as invited choir) memorable performed at the following international festivals: Musical Evenings in Piran, Slovenia, in July 2011, International Choral Festival "VOCE!" in Bosco Chiesanuova and festival "Concerti nel Chiostro" in Verona, Italy, in July 2013, The Nordlysfestivalen in Tromsø, Norway, in January 2014, The 12. China International Choral Festival in Beijing (where the choir was representing Europe) in August 2014, The 2nd City of Derry International Choral Festival in October 2014. Due to successful performances at the last festival mentioned, Utopia & Reality Chamber Choir has been invited as “Artist in Residence” for The 3rd City of Derry International Choral Festival and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland organized a tour for the choir in Northern Ireland in October 2015. In October 2016 the choir was quest of the Festival Ljubljana and the festival Simfonic Voices in Koper. In February 2017 it was performing in Mariinsky Theathre in St. Petersburg.
